At 11:20 this morning, the Solano County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of 1305 North First Street with a vote of 4 to 1 as the new Dixon Veterans Building (the entire building - all 7,480 square feet will be ours NOTE: our old building was 7,087 square feet on three floors with only 4,000 as useable). We will have future meetings with the Solano County Architect in regards to finishing off the building so keep working on your wish list. Also, the exterior will be redone so as not to look like a strip mall. Supervisor Reagan's goal is to have us in the building by Thanksgiving but I think that is a very optimistic view; we will see what develops.

September 4, 2008
I received a call yesterday from Greg Coppes (Dixon Veterans Building Association liaison to Solano County) that Solano County has purchased the Neighborhood Market building on the corner of First Street and Regency Parkway to become the new Dixon Veterans Memorial Building. This building was built in 2007 as a Neighborhood Market however went into foreclosure action prior to completion of the interior and has never been occupied. The county is requesting us to come up with a "wish list" of how we want the building finished on the inside to meet our needs. We will be discussing ideas at our 18 September Post Meeting so be thinking of some ideas.
The Solano County Board of Supervisors next meeting is Tuesday 9 September at 09:30 AM. My understanding is that the formal purchase of the new Dixon Veterans Building will be announced during this meeting and it would be nice if as many Post Members as possible were in attendance at this meeting with VFW hats on. I will attempt to find out a more exact time for us to be there since these meetings can be lengthy and get the time out to you.
