Dixon’s American Legion Auxiliary sponsors our annual fundraiser, HOBO dinner the third Saturday of January allowing us to continue to support the Fisher House and USO at the Travis AFB. A potluck after the Memorial Day Ceremonies is held at the Veterans Hall; and in the past we have participated in the annual Christmas Tree Lighting festivities in Woman’s Improvement Park. Our summer begins each year with our color guard that marches in the annual Dixon May Fair Parade. Our unit volunteers help at the Yountville Veterans home for their annual Spring Fling party, Yountville Days Picnic in the summer and their Holiday Party during the month of December. We support the children and youth of our community by participating in the local Halloween festivities, supplying a scholarship award to a Dixon High School Senior each year, and sponsoring one Dixon High School Junior each year to attend the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program. Over the past two years we have periodically sent boxes of needed items to the troops serving in Iraqi Freedom. Our meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7 pm at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 231 North First Street.
