Installation of Officers

American Legion Post 208 and Auxiliary Unit installed their new officers at a ceremony at the Dixon Veteran's Hall Wednesday night, July 2. Officials of the regional American Legion District and Voiture 395 of the 40 & 8 presented the new officers with a charge to their new duties and introduced them to the members in the audience. The ceremony was led by District Commander Kevin Kilkenny and Hiatha Butts.

Commander Robert Havlin, a Dixon resident since 1992 was installed for a second year as Commander. Bob joined Dixon Post 208 in 1995 and has previously held the offices of Second Vice Commander, Sergeant-at-Arms, and Executive Committee Member. Commander Havlin served in the Navy from 1992 through 1999 and is now a General Foreman with Balfour-Beatty in Sacramento. Marvel Havlin, his wife, is Treasurer of the Auxiliary Unit and a postal employee at the Dixon Post Office.

Post 208 First Vice Commander is William Allard. Bill has been a Dixon resident since 1978. Allard joined Post 208 in 2000, after having served in the Army from 1996 though 2001, part of his duty in the Persian Gulf. Bill, who served as Post 208 Sergeant-At-Arms last year, is also an active member of the Dixon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Bill is a Realtor with Kappel and Kappel's office in Dixon.

The Auxiliary Unit 208 President is Doris Kilkenny, a Dixon resident for eleven years. She has been serving as Acting President since November, when she moved up from First Vice-President to fill a vacancy. She has also served as the American Legion 5th District Auxiliary's Marshall and is the incoming 5th District Auxiliary's 2nd Vice President. She is a Payroll Coordinator with a firm in West Sacramento. Her husband Kevin led the ceremony.

Officers installed for Post 208 were: Bob Havlin, Commander; Bill Allard, 1st Vice Commander; Tammy Cueva, 2nd Vice Commander; Tony Chavez, 3rd Vice Commander; Jim Baehr, Adjutant; Ed Collins, Finance Officer; Ray Lein, Chaplain; Mike Brown; Sergeant-At-Arms; Jim Harris, Service Officer; K. Kilkenny, Judge Advocate; and Ed Bartosh, Historian.

Officers installed for Auxiliary Unit 208 were: Doris Kilkenny, President; Beverly Schillinger, 1st Vice President; Frieda Mindernam, 2nd Vice President; Marv Havlin, Treasurer; Pam Cozzoli, Secretary; Roxie Sanders, Chaplain, and Barbara Schlereth, Sergeant-At-Arms.
